Prescriptions
Repeat Prescriptions
If your pet is on long-term medication you can order a repeat prescription online, by phone or in person at any of our branches. Please let us know in plenty of time (at least 24 hours) before you run out - we may have to order medication in specially. Your pet will need to be checked regularly while on medication - the absolute minimum is every six months for ongoing conditions. The vet may request more frequent checkups to ensure any changes in your pet's condition are monitored. If the theory that one human year equals seven dog years is correct, then it's understandable that your pet will need these regular checkups!

Please enter your surname and pet's name in the 'subject' line and make sure you include the first line of your address and required prescription in the message so we can make sure we have the right "Ben Smith"! Please include your phone number in case we have any queries.
Flea and worm treatments
The products we stock to treat fleas and worms in pets are classified as Prescription Only Medicines. This means that we cannot legally sell them 'over the counter'. The regulations state that we can sell these products to 'animals under our care' - so if you are registered with us and we have seen your pet within the last year, you can purchase these products without needing to see the vet each time.
If you are new to us, we offer a free of charge health check to meet the vet and ensure your pet receives the most appropriate flea and worm treatments - please contact us to make an appointment.
Written Prescriptions
You may obtain Prescription-Only Medicines (Veterinary) (POM-Vs) directly from us or ask for a written prescription (for a fee) and obtain these medicines from a Pharmacy. We may prescribe POM-Vs only for animals under our care. A written prescription may not be appropriate if your pet is an in-patient or requires medication urgently, as issuing the prescription and the time taken for an external pharmacy to fill it will cause unnecessary delay. You are always welcome to ask the price of any medication prescribed or recommended for your pet.
We need to re-assess animals on long-term medication at least every six months. This interval will vary depending on an animal’s condition. The current fee for a re-assessment of a chronic case, complete clinical examination and review of medications is £23.50.
